The Bear is a pub that has been welcoming the people of Camberwell for over 30 years but it hasn’t always been quite the place it is now.
BEAR NECESSITIES
We are Joe and Teddy, two good friends who saw that the pub was a bit broken and tried to turn it around. When we decided to take on The Bear, we were sure about one thing. We wanted to create a chilled atmosphere with great food and drinks. Nothing too fancy or OTT. Just a place where people could come and enjoy the vibe, meet up with friends or make some new ones. We like things laid back and we like to think that comes across the minute you walk through the door.
SPOTLIGHT ON JOE
Joe Sharratt was the mastermind behind the much celebrated Brixton eatery, Naughty Piglets. He worked alongside some of the country’s best chefs before opening his own restaurant to rave reviews. Now the piglets have left Brixton and found a new home in The Bear.
SPOTLIGHT ON TEDDY
Teddy Roberts was one of the most talented chefs at Piglets but became keen to branch out and begin a new chapter. Having always liked the idea of owning a pub and restaurant, he spotted this opportunity in Camberwell and put it to Joe that they give it a go. So here we are. Let the good times roll.
